Rast Malabar, India
If you are looking for a particularly smooth yet flavoursome coffee, you should discover Rast Malabar. This Indian Arabica is processed in a unique way: In a process known as monsooning, the beans are stored for weeks in open warehouses on the Malabar coast, where they are exposed to the humid monsoon winds. The result is a coffee with barely perceptible acidity and an incomparably mild flavour profile - perfect for your next café crème or espresso.
Rast Malabar surprises you with a pleasant, spicy aroma. A mild composition of nutty notes and subtle hints of spice unfolds in the cup - without any sharpness or acidity. The coffee always remains soft and balanced, making it an ideal everyday coffee for lovers of mild, aromatic varieties. The gentle roast emphasises its elegant restraint.
Whether you enjoy your coffee as an espresso or café crème - Rast Malabar is versatile (3/3). In a portafilter or fully automatic machine, it brings a pleasant fullness to the cup, which can be wonderfully combined with a little milk. However, it is less suitable for filter preparations, as its fine structure is somewhat lost here.
The beans come from the Mysore and Coorg regions, two traditional growing areas in the south of India. Classic varieties such as SLN.9 and S-795 are used. The so-called Monsooned process goes back to a centuries-old trading tradition: back then, the coffee changed during the long ship passages through the humid tropics - today, this effect is reproduced in a targeted manner. Rast sources the Malabar directly from the renowned Aspinwall project in Mangaluru, where the beans are refined under optimal conditions. A real piece of India in your cup.

Fresh service, please note: This coffee is freshly roasted every Monday and shipped two to three days later.
We recommend: Espresso roasts should be used 12 days after the roast date, and filter coffees 5 days after the roast date, which can be found on the package. Freshly roasted coffee needs this time to be ready for consistent extraction.
We kindly request that orders be placed by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday so that we can guarantee shipping on the following Wednesday.
