Avantcha Organic English Breakfast
This blend is specially developed for breakfast and has a strong and intense flavour in contrast to green tea. In England, it is typically enjoyed for breakfast, as the name suggests. Many tea lovers swear that the full flavour of this blend helps to wake them up in the morning. Depending on the origin of the tea leaves, this organic tea can have a slight sweetness, bitterness or maltiness. The invigorating and refreshing citrus notes of Ceylon tea combined with the malty and robust character of Assam tea and the sweet caramel flavour of Yunnan tea make this blend unique. It is an indispensable accompaniment to an authentic English breakfast.
Traditionally, it is flavoured with milk, lemon or sugar, but it also develops a unique taste without milk and sugar.
There are two versions of how English Breakfast tea is said to have originated. The first says that the "breakfast blend" was created during colonial times in New York. Allegedly, an English immigrant and tea merchant named Richard Davies mixed a Chinese congou tea with one part pekoe and one part pouchong tea in 1843. As the blend was well received by customers, other tea merchants are said to have imitated it and so English Breakfast tea spread. Another source describes the origin of the tea blend in 1892 in Ireland, where it was simply called "Breakfast Tea".
Selected teas from Assam and other countries of origin such as Ceylon and China form the basis for our organic breakfast blend.
English Breakfast black tea contains a high concentration of theanine, an amino acid that can promote relaxation and increase well-being. Black teas are also said to have anti-inflammatory properties due to the catechins they contain.
