Stadtrösterei Espresso house blend

The espresso house blend from Stadtrösterei in Solothurn is a blend of four origins that is gently roasted to perfection in a 5-kilo probate drum roaster.

The coffees from India (Malabar) and Indonesia (Mandheling) give this espresso an intensely spicy flavour with a hint of nut. This composition is complemented with Ethiopian Sidamo coffee, which gives this blend a fine note of chocolate, citrus-like acidity and a delicate caramel flavour in the finish. A small amount of Brazilian Guaxupe Dulce fine cup rounds off this full-bodied espresso.

Stadtrösterei Solothurn is the speciality roastery of Oetterli Kaffee. The idea is to move away from the "mainstream" of (too) dark-roasted coffees based on cheap green coffee towards genuine speciality coffee. In the centre of the city, it is a meeting place where everyone can philosophise about coffee and discover a completely different side to the natural product that is coffee, a fruit. No show, but real roasting art from the 2018 Swiss champion in coffee roasting.

Roasting master is Panagiotis "Panos" Megalessis, guru, freak, lover, coffee sommelier or coffee artist. Coffee and Greek-Swiss blood run through Panos' veins. It all started at home, where Panos spent years experimenting with coffee, ordering green coffee from the best growing regions in the world, developing his own roasts and exchanging ideas with specialists around the globe. He also has many years of practical experience as a barista. His skills culminated in winning two silver medals (Latte Art and Brewers Cup) at Swiss championships. Panos has been the master roaster at the "Stadtrösterei" since April 2016. By winning the gold medal in 2018 (Swiss Champion) and a 5th place at the World Coffee Roasting Championships, Panos has shown in an impressive way that he not only lives his craft, but also understands it.
