Our commitment is to freshness, quality and reliability. With our fresh produce service from Italy, we have not been able to meet this commitment everywhere.
The idea arose from a genuine enthusiasm for Italian espresso. We didn't want coffee that had been stored somewhere for weeks or months.
We wanted freshness. Proximity to the roaster. That feeling when beans have come out of the roaster just a few days earlier.
Our plan was simple and honest: Once a month, we collect all orders, the roasters produce fresh coffee specifically for this quantity, the coffee is collected in Switzerland and sent directly to you. Less storage. More transparency. More quality.
We wanted to create a system that deserves trust – because it is clear, predictable and uncompromisingly focused on freshness.
During implementation, we underestimated how complex this model actually is. Some roasters were unable to reliably implement smaller, fixed monthly quantities. The actual order quantities were in some cases significantly below expectations, which delayed transport and increased costs. Public holidays in Italy also led to production stoppages and downtime.
At the same time, we received many orders. Some were paid for immediately, others were ordered on account. This led to partial deliveries, confusion about items and invoices, and refunds for individual items. For you, this meant one thing above all else: uncertainty.
And that is precisely where the real problem lies. Not just in the delay. But in the feeling of not knowing exactly where you stand.
This is not in line with our standards. Coffee is a matter of trust. And in some cases, we have undermined that trust.
Coffee is not just a commodity. It's part of your everyday life. Part of your morning. Part of your habit. Maybe even part of your little break.
For many years, Kaffeezentrale has stood for passion, quality and reliability. We are not an anonymous wholesaler. We are a team that consciously selects, describes and recommends every coffee and stands behind it.
Mistakes are part of entrepreneurship. But the decisive factor is how you deal with them. We face up to the situation. We correct. We are learning. And we are working flat out to win back your trust - not with words, but with clean handling and stable processes.
Thank you for your patience. And thank you for giving us the opportunity to do better.
