To fulfil the high requirements, Hario uses the very best Japanese paper. It is fine in the bleached version because it develops less of its own flavour (in contrast to the unbleached version); the paper is bleached in an environmentally friendly way using oxygen.
To remove the inherent flavour from the paper, rinse the filter paper with boiling water before use while it is already in the filter holder. This prevents the paper flavour from interfering with the coffee and the filter holder and drip tray are preheated for the brewing process.
