Bag of Bukabel Coffee from Ethiopia on grey background

Drip Roasters Ethiopia Buku Abel

Clarity meets fruitiness. If you long for a coffee that surprises you with its freshness and at the same time delights you with fruity notes, then the Ethiopia Buku Abel is just right for you. With this natural, Drip Roasters brings a coffee to your cup that combines elegance, clarity and sweetness - and is both typically Ethiopian and unique.

This coffee impresses with an amazingly clean and light-coloured cup. From the very first sip, you will encounter clear flavours of ripe peaches, juicy raspberries and tangy mandarin. Although it has been prepared as a natural, it is free from the often heavier, tropical fruit flavours and instead shines with lightness and brilliant freshness. The fine sweetness, combined with the lively acidity, makes for an exceptionally balanced flavour.

The Ethiopia Buku Abel is best enjoyed as a filter coffee - for example in the Origami Dripper. Drip Roasters recommends 15 g of coffee to 250 g of water at 93 °C, medium-coarse grind, in 5 infusions with a total brewing time of 2:45-3:00 minutes. However, it also shows its potential as an espresso, presenting its fruity and clear flavours in a concentrated form.

The Ethiopia Buku Abel comes from the Hambela Wamena region in West Guji, Oromia, and grows at altitudes of 2000 to 2350 metres above sea level. It is produced by Esayas Beriso and Meskerem Tomas, who have been running their farm together since 2009 and work closely with the surrounding small farmers. The hand-picked cherries are carefully processed on raised drying beds after strict selection and regularly turned to guarantee even drying. With an FOB price of USD 4.53 per pound - 227% above the Fairtrade minimum price - Drip Roasters also demonstrates full transparency and commitment to sustainable trade.

We recommend: Espresso roasts should be used 12 days after the roast date, and filter coffees 5 days after the roast date, which can be found on the package. Freshly roasted coffee needs this time to be ready for consistent extraction.

We kindly request that orders be placed by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday so that we can guarantee shipping on the following Wednesday.
