The KNCU Kilimanjaro Native Co-operative Union in Tanzania has been active since 1924 as one of the oldest African coffee co-operatives. The union maintains a central training fund and manages a credit/savings bank that grants low-interest loans. Claro Fairtrade guarantees the farmers minimum prices that secure their livelihood, partial pre-financing of the harvest and long-term purchase agreements.
