Horizonte Pedal, Colombia and India, espresso roasting
Sweet, very creamy and full-bodied with little acidity
Robusta coffee beans have twice the caffeine content of Arabica beans as they grow at lower altitudes. With their increased caffeine content, they defend themselves against potential pests which are more prevalent at this altitude. Horizonte spent a long time searching for the right bean and tested many different blends until the ratio of 50% Leal and 50% Robusta finally convinced them.
The result offers the best of both worlds: It is a balanced, strong, sweet, very creamy and big body with little acidity, making it ideal for the classic espresso drinker. The flavour notes are chocolate, dried fruit and earthy tones. This blend tastes particularly good even if you don't follow the perfect extraction time/ratio exactly.
Christoph Sauser's path to his company Horizonte Coffee Roasters is more like a winding mountain path than a predictable tarmac road. During his 20-year career as one of the world's best mountain bikers, Sauser has won bronze at the Olympic Games, two World Cup overall rankings, four world championship titles and five Cape Epic mountain bike stage races.
Sauser's path from professional cyclist to coffee roaster was paved by the same curiosity and pursuit of perfection. Drinking coffee is just one (incredibly enjoyable) part of a large and rich coffee culture. With Horizonte Coffee Roasters, you can experience and taste it all.

Fresh service, please note: This coffee is freshly roasted every Monday and shipped two to three days later.
We recommend: Espresso roasts should be used 12 days after the roast date, and filter coffees 5 days after the roast date, which can be found on the package. Freshly roasted coffee needs this time to be ready for consistent extraction.
We kindly request that orders be placed by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday so that we can guarantee shipping on the following Wednesday.
