Drip Roasters Rwanda Rugori
What is immediately noticeable is the intense fruitiness: blackcurrant is in the foreground, accompanied by notes of ripe plums and red grapes. The sweetness is pronounced, the acidity juicy and lively - typical of the best coffees from Rwanda. Despite its aromatic complexity, Rugori remains wonderfully clear and structured in the cup.
The coffee comes 100% from Red Bourbon plants, a variety known for its expressive fruity flavours and fine acidity. It is grown at an altitude of 1600 to 2100 metres in western Rwanda. The region's special microclimate ensures that the cherries ripen slowly - an important basis for the high quality of this coffee.
Whether as a pour over, in the Aeropress or in the Batch Brewer - Rugori is best enjoyed in the filter. Here it can develop its fruitiness and clarity particularly well. If you like it bold, you can also try it as an espresso: A fruity blast with plenty of character and a pleasant freshness.
After de-pulping, the coffee undergoes two fermentation stages: Firstly, a 12-hour fermentation in open tanks, followed by a further short anaerobic fermentation of 8 hours in barrels. This combination brings structure, sweetness and a subtle complexity to the cup. Rugori was produced by Gasharu Coffee - a company that employs over 70% of its workforce as women. "Rugori" means "crown" in Kinyarwanda - a symbolic honour for women after the birth of their first child. This coffee honours their role in society and in coffee production.

Fresh Service: This coffee is freshly roasted for you every Monday and shipped two days later.
Some companies take a short break during the public holidays. It is therefore possible that your order will not be dispatched until after the holidays. Thank you for your understanding
We recommend that espresso roasts be used 12 days after the roast date or filter coffees 5 days after the roast date found on the package. Freshly roasted coffee needs this time until it is ready for a constant extraction.
We ask that the order is always sent before 23:59 on Sunday, so that we can ensure a shipment on the following Wednesday.
