Drip Roasters Brazil Canta Galo
This rich and sumptuous coffee is characterised by an intense sweetness and offers a wealth of ripe, fruity nuances reminiscent of grapes, wine, occasionally even rum or exotic fruits. These diverse flavours are rounded off by a wonderfully long-lasting, floral finish.
Canto Galo represents a traditional family farm in Campos Altos, in the heart of the Cerrado Mineiro in Minas Gerais, Brazil. This region is one of the highest coffee-growing regions in the country and therefore benefits from first-class climatic conditions for growing coffee.
The owners of the farm, Marina do Carmo Santanna de Carvalho and her son Heron Reger de Carvalho Junior, cultivate an area of 48 hectares on which they grow different varieties of coffee. Although this may seem large compared to many other coffee farms from which we source coffee, it is actually a smaller farm by Brazilian standards.
The name "Canta Galo" translates as "the rooster crows", but the de Carvalho family's land is not just home to roosters and chickens. Over 60% of the land on Fazenda Canta Galo remains untouched and is home to rainforests, waterfalls and springs that play a significant role in the long-term preservation of the local ecosystem.
The family is always striving to continuously improve the quality of their coffee. It is therefore not surprising that this coffee came fourth in the "Pulped Natural" category at the 7th annual "Campos Altos and Region Coffee Quality Competition". This emphasises the de Carvalho family's dedication to the quality of their coffee and their efforts to maintain the coffee-growing tradition in this region.
