Avantcha Peach & Pear

This tantalising peach and pear tea is a delicious blend of white tea, sunflower petals and white rosebuds. The caffeine-free tea offers a pleasant taste experience with the mild flavour of sweet pears.

The addition of pear pieces gives the tea a special flavour nuance. The gentle harmony of the sunflower petals and rosebuds gives the tea just the right amount of flavour. The combination of these ingredients creates an exceptional flavour experience that is rare to find. This pear tea is not normally enjoyed on its own, but as a blend and is also ideal as an iced tea.

Pears (Pyrus) belong to the pome fruit family (Pyrinae) in the rose family (Rosaceae). The origin of the pear is believed to be in the Caucasus and Anatolia. Nowadays, it is grown in both the northern and southern hemispheres, as long as it is warm there and the soil is rich in nutrients. There are an estimated 2500 varieties worldwide. The main areas of cultivation include China (approx. 40% of global production), Italy, the USA, Spain, Argentina, Japan, Turkey, France, Ukraine, Chile, South Africa and Germany. Depending on their intended use, pears are divided into summer, autumn and winter pears as well as dessert pears (for direct consumption), cider pears (for juice production) and cooking pears (for compote). A dessert pear with particularly melt-in-the-mouth flesh is known as a butter pear.

In contrast to apples, pears thrive best in dry, warm locations and are therefore particularly suitable for cultivation on southern slopes and walls, provided the soil is sufficiently moist and rich in nutrients. Large-fruited autumn and winter varieties in particular require sheltered, warm locations.

The plant parts and fruits used in high-quality fruit teas such as pear tea contain numerous valuable ingredients such as vitamins, minerals, trace elements and polyphenols as well as essential oils. The latter contribute significantly to the flavour and aroma of fruit teas. Fruit teas are often drunk as a low-calorie way of meeting fluid requirements. Some blends are extremely flavoursome, so no additional sugar is required.
