Atinkana is not just a roastery, but a movement for better coffee and a more sustainable world. The story begins with three coffee rebels who set out on a journey to serve the world a better coffee.
They believe in solutions that are in harmony with people and nature. The coffee is the result of their tremendous effort, which pays off. They don't just point the way, they turn action into reality. Because positive changes in nature and wildlife are visible when we give nature protection and peace.
To reach the Atinkana Farm, you have to trek through the northern part of Colombia's Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Here, surrounded by sun and nature, you will find our farm with the main house and the scattered outbuildings. Of course, there is also a small finca. The farm is organised like a small village in which various tasks are carried out by dedicated employees. From the pickers, who set off early in the morning to the coffee plants, to Siñora Marta, who conjures up delicious meals and has them transported to the collection points by donkey.
What many visitors don't realise is that coffee is only a by-product on this farm. The main aim is to reforest the rainforest. The main purpose of coffee cultivation is to secure funding for new trees. On an area of 150 hectares, at altitudes of 1200 to 1600 metres above sea level, they not only grow coffee, but also cocoa, avocados and citrus fruits. The farm is a place where nature and sustainability take centre stage.
Atinkana is proud to offer coffee that not only tastes great, but also respects the environment. They pay the farmers top dollar for their harvest, and yet Atinkana is only half the price of capsule coffee. Their philosophy is based on sustainability and fairness towards everyone involved.
They believe in positive changes that can be seen after a short time in a regenerating nature and animal world. The commitment to people and nature makes Atinkana a unique place of sustainability and better coffee.
