The new Rocket R Cinquantotto is the successor to the popular R58. The machine comes with a new look and offers, in addition to the proven features, an integrated shot timer, as well as a new removable PID temperature control with touch display. What sets the Rocket R Cinquantotto apart from the rest of the Rocket range is its separate insulated brass boilers for brewing and steam. These allow simultaneous brewing of espresso and steaming of milk with ultimate temperature control and stability. The fully programmable PID (electronic temperature control) uses sensors in the boilers to deliver precise temperatures, ensuring stability to within 1°C. This feature allows precise adjustment to specific coffee types.Activating and deactivating the Eco mode is made possible via an external communication pod. The display on the shot timer briefly shows an "E" when the machine is started and Eco mode is activated, or a crossed-out "E" when Eco mode is deactivated. The espresso machine can be operated not only via the fixed water but also via the water tank. It has the same switchable technology as the already well-known and popular Rocket models.Although the Rocket R Cinquantotto can be classified as a household machine, it is above-average in performance and capable of producing excellent espresso and perfect microfoam for cappuccino at a level that is normally only possible with commercial machines.Until the early nineties, Ennio Berti was a technical developer at one of the largest manufacturers of espresso machines in Italy. Ennio Berti believes that the time is ripe for a change in household espresso machines. The idea behind the development was to start at the end of the chain, with the perfect espresso in the cup. He developed a superlative espresso machine. The machine was rethought and realised down to the smallest detail. For example, the copper boiler was equipped with a lead-free end flange, which greatly improves the thermal properties. The boiler was nickel-plated on the outside to prevent copper oxidation. The thermo-siphon system was completely redesigned. The steam arms are equipped with the "Cooltouch" system.Rocket Espresso and ECMIn 2007, ECM Italy split, with ECM henceforth concentrating on the commercial machines and the household division being absorbed into Rocket Espresso Milano Ltd. under the leadership of the son of founder Daniele Berenbruch, Andrew Meo and Jeff Kennedy. The ECM espresso household machines are assembled and distributed in Germany.
