Sirocco Rooibos Tangerine, tea bags
In South Africa, tea is considered the national drink and is usually referred to as rooibos tea (Afrikaans rooi=red and bos=bush). It is not known exactly how old the rooibos is, but it was first described in 1772 by the botanist Carl Thunberg as a medicinal plant of the Khoisan. The plant is grown worldwide exclusively in the Cederberg Mountains - around 200 kilometres north of Cape Town - around the towns of Clanwilliam and Citrusdal. In contrast to black or green tea, rooibos tea contains no caffeine and few tannins, which means that any effects such as a bitter taste or insomnia do not occur.
To give the rooibos a more exclusive flavour, it is blended with a little hibiscus and tangerine, an Asian variety of the tangerine that we are more familiar with. The result is a great tea with a wonderful flavour that can also be enjoyed late at night.
Unmistakable, organically grown rooibos from the Cedar Mountains of South Africa - wholesome, fruity and caffeine-free. The subtle hint of tangerine adds to the uniqueness of this blend.
