The carafe is made in one piece from heat-resistant borosilicate glass. Its handle in the form of a wooden sleeve makes it very easy to handle. With the Chemex, you can brew coffee in the same way as with other pour-over filters, but you can also serve it straight from the jug. The secret of the Chemex lies in its shape with a single large opening and the conical filters, which ensure that the coffee is extracted evenly.
The Chemex® was developed in 1941 by the German-born chemist Dr Peter Schlumbohm in New York. He created a perfect interplay of pot, filter technology and manual infusion. For example, the channel in the upper part of the jug makes pouring easier and allows air to circulate between the top and bottom.
