Victor Calderon bought the farm in 2001 and runs it using environmentally friendly methods, such as the use of clay to combat leaf rust.
The employees of El Tambor live on the farm and cultivate 10% of the land to produce their own vegetables.
Le Piantagioni Del Caffè was founded by the Meschini family in 1994 out of the need to offer very special single estate coffees and is the subsidiary of the traditional Arcaffè roasting house in Livorno. The family know all their producers personally and source their coffees themselves.
Victor Calderon has been running his farm for over 20 years and is committed to environmentally friendly cultivation. For example, he uses clay instead of a fungicide to stop the spread of coffee rust - a serious fungal disease that can attack the coffee leaves.
Roasted gently and slowly by the Meschinis, this roast brings out everything a washed coffee from Guatemala has to offer. Exciting fruity notes, slightly citrusy and a wonderfully sweet finish.
