This coffee is still served in its original composition in the New York bar in Montecatini Terme in Tuscany, just as it was in the old days. The first Caffè of New York with a small roastery was established there. The original recipe contains coffee beans from Central America and Asia. A mild blend, but with the body of a real Italian espresso. The beans come from plantations in Central America and Asia. A special feature is the proportion of Indian beans, which give the espresso a spicy flavour. The original packaging from the 1950s shows a hunter enjoying a steaming cup of Caffè New York.
The story of Caffè New York began a good 70 years ago in the small town of Montecatini Terme in Tuscany. Ugo Incerpi, owner of the Bar New York, bought a roasting machine so that he could offer an exceptional coffee to the select clientele who came to the spa town. The coffee was so excellent that word got round within a very short time. In the 1950s and 1960s, Mr Incerpi's son-in-law, Oscar Onori, expanded the "one-man roastery" and began selling "Caffé New York" to bars and restaurants throughout Tuscany.
