Ceylon long grass tea
Ceylon (now called Sri Lanka) was actually a coffee-producing country. the cultivation of hybridised Assam and China tea plants began in 1867. After the infestation of most coffee plants with coffee rust in 1869, the country switched almost completely to tea, and tea has been exported since 1873. The teas are harvested in various stages from spring to autumn and processed as fully oxidised black teas. Ceylon teas tend to be dark and strong
with lemony-cinnamon notes.
