City Roastery Orang Utan Sumatra

The "Orang Utan Coffee Project" supports coffee farmers on Sumatra who manage their coffee plantations ecologically, refrain from clearing the rainforest and thus protect the valuable habitat of the orang utans, which are threatened with extinction.

A premium of 0.50 EUR/kg goes to the coffee farmers of the Orang Utan Coffee Project for their commitment to the preservation of the tropical rainforest and the controlled cultivation according to orangutan guidelines. Another 0.50 EUR/kg goes directly to the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Programme (SOCP).

The Stadtrösterei Solothurn is Oetterli Kaffee's speciality roastery. The idea is to move away from the "mainstream" of (too) dark-roasted coffees based on cheap green coffee, towards real speciality coffee. In the middle of the city, it is a meeting place where everyone can philosophise about coffee and discover the natural product coffee, a fruit, from a completely different perspective. No show, but real roasting art from the Swiss coffee roasting champion 2018.

The roasting master is Panagiotis "Panos" Megalessis, guru, freak, enthusiast, coffee sommelier or coffee artist. Panos has coffee and Greek-Swiss blood flowing through his veins. It all started in his own four walls, where Panos experimented with coffee for years, ordered green coffee from the best growing regions in the world, developed his own roasts and exchanged ideas with specialists around the globe on the "net". Add to this his many years of practical experience as a barista. His skills culminated in winning two silver medals (Latte Art and Brewers Cup) at Swiss championships. Since April 2016, Panos has been working as a roasting master at the "Stadtrösterei". By winning the 2018 gold medal (Swiss Champion) and a 5th place at the World Coffee Roasting Championships, Panos has shown in an impressive way that he not only lives his craft, but also understands it.
